Dammusi

Handcrafted Dammusi Ceramics from the Mangiallegro Line

On the island of Pantelleria, traditional houses seem to emerge naturally from the stone and blend into the landscape. These are the dammusi, distinctive stone dwellings known for their vaulted roofs. Their unmistakable architecture is at the heart of the Dammusi design from the Mangiallegro line, reimagined through the vibrant colours and expressive artistic style of Ceramiche De Simone.

The name itself has a fascinating history. Its possible origins include the Latin domus, meaning house, and the Arabic dammus, referring to a vaulted building. Designed to adapt to the island's landscape and climate, these traditional dwellings have become one of Pantelleria's most recognisable symbols.

In the Dammusi collection, these architectural forms are interpreted through the distinctive artistic language of Giovanni De Simone, with stylised figures, vibrant colours and instantly recognisable decoration. The result is a personal celebration of Sicily, bringing together tradition, creativity and craftsmanship in everyday objects.

Dammusi Dinnerware Sets and Hand-Painted Ceramics for Every Room

The Dammusi collection brings its distinctive style to many moments of the day, from breakfast to dinner. You can create your own personalised dinnerware set by choosing from the different sizes and styles of the Dammusi round plate, including dinner plates, soup plates, fruit plates, dessert plates and pizza plates, as well as larger serving plates. Complete your table with matching table accessories, or mix Dammusi with other Mangiallegro designs. For drinks and appetisers with friends, appetizer plates and serving dishes bring the same character to more informal occasions.

But Dammusi goes well beyond lunch and dinner. Ceramic mugs are ideal for a leisurely breakfast or afternoon tea, while espresso cups bring the same design to your after-dinner coffee or daily break. The collection also includes a variety of kitchen accessories, from spoon rests and cutlery holders to bottle and utensil holders and storage containers.

The Dammusi design also belongs in other areas of the home. Soap dispensers and toothbrush holders bring its character into the bathroom, while ceramic vases and lamp bases make decorative additions to different living spaces. Dammusi ceramics embody the value of traditional craftsmanship and hand-painted decoration, an artistic tradition that continues to thrive in the creations of Ceramiche De Simone.
